Our Philosophy

We believe that empowering pupils with information about our food system is a pivotal part of school.

"For us food education is not optional. It's fundamentally important to our DNA. And this all starts with what's on the plate."

Our approach

Designed by nutritionists, our classroom programme integrates meaningful food education throughout the school day.

Our programme is intertwined with education about the food and drink pupils enjoy every day, and how it can fuel their learning in school and beyond.

This supports wellbeing priorities, strengthens the PSHE curriculum, and makes food learning a consistent part of school life.

By surrounding pupils with engaging information and practical experiences, we ensure they not only know what to eat, but why it matters...

for their health, their mood, their environment and their future.

Our programme is built on three connected pillars:

  • Barley

    Garden

We believe in the importance of understanding where our food comes from. Engaging pupils about the farm to fork journey, championing wholefoods, unearthing the origins of food, the importance of sustainability, and the joys of growing their own produce.

  • Whisk

    Kitchen

The kitchen is where the magic happens. Not only will our talented chefs prepare nutritious meals using fresh ingredients from the garden, they will impart culinary skills onto your pupils, emphasise balanced diets and ignite a love for wholesome, homemade food.

  • Flourish

    Classroom

In the classroom, we provide comprehensive education on the food we serve through our education programme. Pupils gain knowledge about the nutritional value of different foods and how to make informed dietary choices that benefit their health and the environment.

School Sports

Sports nutrition

We offer a bespoke Sports Nutrition Programme, designed by registered Sports Nutritionists, that connects nutrition directly to athletic performance, recovery and long-term goals. By understanding how food fuels their bodies, pupils are more motivated to make informed choices that support both performance and overall wellbeing.
